Pitching Report: Game 2- Arizona
OMAHA, NE-- Outstanding pitching once again took center stage in Game 2 of the Championship Series.
True to form, the Wildcats of Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Bobby Dalbec blasted a shot off 3B man Zach Remillard’s glove scoring Zach Gibbons. The game was knotted at 2 going into the 7th when the Chants took the lead on a Connor Owings single to left and never looked back. Arizona pulled within 1 in the 8th but was quickly shut down by closer Bobby Holmes with 3 up and 3 down in the 9th.
Arizona Pitcher Kevin Ginkel threw 101 pitches with 16 fps in 7 innings. Ginkel struck out 10 allowing 5 hits and 2 runs, 1 of the runs was earned. Ginkel finished the outing with a Strike % of 65. He was lifted for reliever Cameron Ming who threw only 1 fps and a total of 16 pitches but gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and ended up with the loss for the Wildcats.
Ming(Strike % 56) was replaced by Alfonso Rivas(Strike % 57) who quickly gave up 2 hits on 7 pitches and lifted for Arizona’s final pitcher of the night, Cody Deason. Deason threw 20 pitches striking out 1 and walking 1. Deason ended his outing with a Strike % of 50.
